Event Details

Bonsai, the art and horticultural practice of joining a plant and a confined container is not limited to a single species of tree or even tree species typically seen in examples from Japan. In fact, Bonsai in Colorado has a long history dating back to the unfortunate period of Japanese Internment Camps in the state. In this talk, we will explore the use of native tree and shrub species as Bonsai subjects. Including some basic Bonsai facts and myths, horticultural and stylistic information and some tips for successful cultivation in the Durango vicinity.
